Most is a service provided by
courtesy of the European Association for the Study
of Religions (EASR) to which, for example, the national
associations for the study of religions in Poland
and the Czech Republic have affiliated.
Editorial and linguistic advice
is given by the following:
Mika
Mikos (Poland) Bretislav
Horyna (Czech Republic)
The word "most" means "bridge" in several Slavonic
languages. Here it is a
symbolic name for an international electronic discussion list in which East
European languages are given prominence. Because of the different
orthographies, there may be some technical difficulties. However
list-members will find out from experience what works best.
"Most" is part of an interlocking network of electronic discussion
lists
sponsored by the
European Association for the Study of Religions (EASR). This association is
affiliated to the International Association for the History of Religions
(IAHR), to which several East European national associations for the study
of religions also belong.
The network of six lists provides discussion foci in loosely defined
language regions across national boundaries. The EASR will place occasional
announcements on these lists. Individuals may subscribe to more than one
list, depending on their interests and language orientation. Membership of
the lists is not exclusive to members of the EASR or the affiliated
national associations such as the BASR. List membership from outside Europe
is also welcome, as appropriate.
The six lists:
Candide (French)
Dolmen (English)
Most (East European languages)
Synkron (Nordic languages)
Tonantzin (Italian/Spanish/Portuguese)
Yggdrasill (German)
The languages are not exclusive; for example English is quite common on
Synkron, and Romanian might be used on Candide or on Tonantzin. All these
lists operate on the same system.
