The Finnish Society for the Study of Religion (FSSR) / Suomen Uskontotieteellinen Seura (SUS) / Religionsvetenskapliga Sällskapet i Finland (RSF)

The Finnish Society for the Study of Religion was founded in November 1963 to answer a growing interest in academic study of religion in the country. The society has been active throughout its existence, organizing events and also international conferences. It has hosted IAHR conferences in 1973, 1990 and 1997 and EASR conferences in 2005 and 2016. In addition, it has hosted and co-hosted numerous domestic events in Finland, most recently the national Research Conference in Theology and Religion in 2020 and 2022. The society also publishes Temenos – Nordic Journal for the Study of Religion to which contributions are drawn from all of the Nordic countries and elsewhere.
